STAGETEXT
STAGETEXT is a charity which provides access to the theatre for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people through captioning.
Captioning is similar to television subtitling. The actors' words appear on a display unit on or near the stage at the same time as they are spoken or sung. Speaker names, sound effects and offstage noises are also included. Captioning is about developing new deaf, deafened and hard of hearing audiences and bringing former audiences back to the theatre.
